Excellent post!!!! My friend and I were talking about Sinners yesterday and she remarked something you pointed out… women like Annie are never made to seem “desirable” in spite of all the weight they carry for their communities. Thanks for writing this post!!!!!
Back in the day we’d blame it on “European beauty standards” these days of BBL, bundles, and “baddies” women like Annie wouldn’t be the first pick. Back then there wasn’t any other option. Crazy part is…she is indeed gorgeous! She reminded me so much of my grandmother it blows my mind. Her whole frame. Her character really stood out to me and reminded me of home. I hate how society has conditioned so many smh. Thank you for reading, sharing, engaging. I was discouraged but God has never failed me. Writing is what I was called to do and I will continue. 🫶🏾
